In Greene County district court Ashley Marie Kuenster, 33, of Gilbert was sentenced March 3 to five years in prison on a charge of theft- second degree, amended from theft- first degree, and to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. The consecutive sentences were suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correction for three years. She must complete the Webster County drug treatment program. Kuenster was fined $1,025 with a $153,75 surcharge on each charge. The fines and surcharges were suspended. She must pay victim restitution to be determined. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Derek Johnson)
Austin Scott Ferguson, 28, of Farnhamville was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of eluding causing injury at speeds more than 25 mph above the speed limit. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. He was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of driving while license barred, and one year in prison on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The prison terms are consecutive; all were suspended. Ferguson was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for three years. He must reside at a residential correctional facility, and he must complete a substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs.
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jason M. Pirie, 41, of Callender, fraudulent practice- second degree and gambling- avoid setoff; and Bruce K. Binkley, 61, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. Pirie’s trial was set for April 4, and Binkley’s was set for May 9.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Olvin Rodanin Aguilar-Flores, 32, of Jefferson has been charged with sex abuse- second degree. The charge stems from an alleged sex assault of a child in 2012. The charge is in addition to several previous charges in Greene County of sex abuse and child endangerment.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Michael Craig Glynn, 44, of Boone, lotter- forgery or theft of tickets (two counts), and theft- third degree; and Richard Dean Washington, 29, of Des Moines, operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of dangerous weapon while under influence.
